Why they like it: I interviewed my Dad, Bruce. He likes those songs because this was the only music he really listened too. He was more of a sports guy, hung out with the sports crew. Whatever his friends listened to, he did also. Its also just what happened to be the songs of those times and whatever it was thats what he ended up hearing. My dad to this day, isn't a big music person.

Why they like it: I interviewed my Mom, Lynn. She likes the song, because it reminds her of the songs that she liked at that song. That was the genre and kind of music she liked then. It was also the hit stars, most people were listening to them. Even now I hear her listen to Madonna and The Beatles.

1976: Soweto Uprising
June 16th 1976, was the day of student riots that began in the morning. The students from various Sowetan schools began to protest in the streets because of Afrikaans were being allowed to come in. About 20,000 students were in the riots and about 176 of them were killed. This day is a public holiday called Youth Day in South Africa.

1966: Black Panther Party
In 1966 this is when the Black Panther Party starts a self defense group. It was the first U.S. organization to struggle for ethnic minority. It was a protection for African American communities. It was a very socialist group. And although it started out being one ethnic group, the membership got more diverse. A lot of the other diverse people who joined, openly disagreed with the leaders. But its only happened to be the diverse people. This group kept on getting members. It started in 1966, and by 1969 they had over 10,000 members. This group started as a little group, to help african american communities, and making it safe. Then there were so many people judging them and rumors going around, which means there reputation ended. But the leaders always like their original group in 1966.
